The Beta Club Pots and Pans Drive started collecting donations on Tuesday, January 19th and will end Friday, February 26th. The deadline was originally Friday, February 12th, but due to snow it has been extended two weeks.
The student leading the pots and pans drive is senior Cameron Oglesby.
“My friend and I are both in an organization called Youth Philanthropy – so I came up with the pots and pans drive idea, and my friend agreed with me, so that’s how it started,” Oglesby said.
The charity has collected about 20 pots and pans so far.
“Our goal was originally 100, but it’s not really realistic at this point, so we changed it to 40,” Oglesby said.
This is the first year this drive has been here at James River.
“We are sending them to an organization called Virginia Supportive Housing. It provides residence for homeless people and people that have been stuck on the street for years because they can’t get out of their depression,” Oglesby said.
