On Wednesday, October 8th, James River High School hosted College Night in the auditorium. College admission counselors from various Virginia schools, including Radford University, Randolph Macon College, James Madison University, Virginia Tech, and University of Virginia, gave a presentation on the college application process.

This presentation was open to Chesterfield County students and parents. Attendees received information on essays, student selection, the college search, transition from high school to college, the role of parents, benefits of a private college, and many other helpful admissions tips.

“It’s great, especially for juniors who are just starting this process, just beginning to learn about schools, and what they need to be doing,” said Head of the Counseling department, Ms. Laurie Hogan. “It kind of maps out what they should focus on this year.”

Students were given the advantage of hearing “the information from the experts.” They were given the unique chance to ask questions to the representatives that came directly from the schools.
