On Wednesday, September 24th, seniors kicked off their final year by attending convocation at James River High School where many guest speakers were invited to share some inspiration with the class of 2015.

Ms. Tara Brunyansky, Region One Teacher of the Year and Chemistry teacher, provided the seniors with personal stories and tips on how to find their path and become successful after they leave James River and continue on in pursuit of their careers.

“Take the chance! Don’t go through life regretting missed opportunities because you didn’t think you were ‘good enough’. Seize opportunities when they present themselves, even if the timing doesn’t seem right. You may never get another chance.” said Ms. Brunyansky.

Students and parents had the opportunity to hear from some of the other special guests that attended such as entertainer and motivational speaker, Micah White, Chesterfield County Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Marcus J. Newsome, and James River High School’s principal, Mr. Jeff Ellick.

Senior class president, Benjamin Caracciolo, was a huge fan of Micah White, who gave lots of motivation and inspiration about being true to yourself and not letting others pull you away from that.

“My favorite part of convocation was listening to Micah White. He told us to not let ‘the haters hate,’and to not hate on others,” said Benjamin Caracciolo.

Convocation is just the beginning of the end, and there are still so many things that James River seniors have to look forward to. They have worked hard for 11 years and can now enjoy the last few months that they have here at James River High School.
